After Jesus had finished his work on the Cross and resurrected, one of the key concerns the Lord Jesus showed with regards to his disciples was their failure to grasp the meaning of the Scriptures in light of the gospel. Luke 24.25-26 records that He said:
“How foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?”
Often when we read the Scriptures, we too fail to reflect on the Bible's story as a whole. The Bible becomes a book of individual sayings for individualistic interpretation and we leave many passages we consider strange, especially in the Old Testament, either untouched or confidently misinterpreted.
FWC 2010 call us to a ministry for the Lord Jesus that is faithful to His word, His gospel and thus will build His church His way.
Let us gather at the Fellow Workers Conference to hear God speak to us and to encourage each other in gospel-faithful ministry.

Electives
1. Roman Catholic Interpretation of the Bible
When you listen to the Pope speak at a World Youth Day, you may feel uneasy. The surprising thing is that the uneasiness may not come from what you disagree with, but with what you seem to hold in common! This elective aims to introduce the way Roman Catholics understand the Bible and its distinctiveness from a reformed evangelical interpretation.
Elective Leader: Bernie Leo
2. Liberal interpretation of the Bible
There seems to be so much heat in the debate over women's ordination and homosexuality today. Are topics like these worth fighting over? These issues actually uncover an underlying view of the Bible that is even more worrying! This elective aims to introduce the way liberal Christians understand the Bible and its distinctiveness from a reformed evangelical interpretation.
Elective Leader: Bernie Leo
3. Charismatic interpretation of the Bible
It has been said that the Charismatic movement has opened its doors to practically every denomination and sect that embraces some manifestation of the charismatic gifts. Due to this pervasiveness, most of us would have encountered some aspect of its teaching. Some of its teaching makes very radical assertions about the Christian life. It is, thus, important for us to begin to understand how Charismatics think. What accounts for the movements distinctiveness? What can we say about Charismatic interpretation? Is it biblical? This elective will start us in the process of understanding Charismatic hermeneutics.
Elective Leader: Nick Loi
4. Arminian interpretation of the Gospel from the Bible
The Arminian gospel interpretation is very popular in our churches in Malaysia.
Where does it come from? What does it teach?
What does the Bible actually say on these matters?
Elective Leader: Andrew Cheah
5. The Challenge to the Gospel in Feminist interpretation
Would you call yourself a feminist? Are there women in your churches who would identify themselves as feminists? Who are the Evangelical Feminists? How do they understand the Bible and should we agree with them?
Elective Leader: Anna Hu
6. Emergent interpretation of the Gospel
The Emergent Church movement has burst throughout America and Europe with astonishing influence. It challenges traditional thinking and practice and is zealous to see the lost come to faith in Christ. At the forefront is ‘relevant evangelism’, presenting the gospel in new terms that will connect with modern people. But how should we respond? Rejoice at the flocks of people returning to church, or be deeply concerned that the truth of the gospel is compromised? Does the church need to emerge from its past? Do we need to make the gospel relevant? How do you reach out without selling out? These are crucial questions we must have answers to. Join us to think them through.
Elective Leader: Tim Nicholls
7. Post modernism – the interpretive mind of the 21st century
Post modernism in a nutshell means there is no absolute truth. Everyone can come up with their own definition of truth. As the saying goes “the reader defines the meaning of a story, rather than the author.” Is the Gospel at stake if we subscribe to post modernism? What is so attractive about post-modernism? How can we evangelize to a post-modernist? Can a post-modernist really exist?
We need to understand post modernism because it is a school of thought that seems very convenient and attractive but really unattainable in reality. Most importantly, it is a philosophy that is at odds with the Gospel message.
Elective Leader: Andy Ng
8. Post Communist Chinese interpretation of the Bible
Elective Leader: Tim Hu
9.Bible and Gospel interpretation by Singapore mega churches - Their methods and results
Mega churches such as City Harvest and New Creation are gaining growing prominence in Singapore, and it is impossible to ignore their influence. This elective attempts to survey and evaluate their understanding of the gospel, while recognizing that they are not necessarily in theological agreement with each other. Hence we will have to be more focused and look mainly at Pastor Joseph Prince's teaching, especially as laid out in his book 'Destined to Reign'. In particular we will examine his method of bible interpretation and his understanding of the gospel.
Elective Leader: Tan Swee Teng
10. How to have Gospel-centred music ministry in church
This elective will help anyone interested in faithful music ministry, to contribute to the growth of the church according to Christ’s word as the church sings, loves and serves God and each other. We will also cover the choosing of gospel centred songs, and how music supports the total Word ministry in their church.
Elective Leader: Joy Gan & Merrill Lee
11. A Gospel-centered Church in Action – Interpreting life together under God’s Word
This elective will look at practical aspects of various church gatherings and programmes for different age groups. It will suggest helpful resources for these, and raise common pitfalls to watch out for. How are these programmes shaped by the gospel? How should the Bible fit into all of these?
Elective Leader: Steven Lee
